How true that Windows 8 will depend heavily on touch gestures? Does this mean that this OS is not backwards compatible?

Hi Larryiresto,

Windows 8 works very well on touch-based devices like smartphones and tablets. Since it was released last year, its efficiency of use has been observed to lean more on smartphones and tablets or other touch-based devices. However, this does not mean that desktop computers are not compatible with Windows 8. In fact, Windows 8 works just as well on desktop computers. It has been noticed, however, that Windows 7 still is the better choice of operating system when it comes to desktops. Microsoft will be releasing enhancements to Windows 8 this summer to improve the non-touch users’ experience when using Windows 8.

Windows 8 is also backward compatible so your devices should work just the same.
