Hello,

Recently, I was trying to update my Skype on Windows 7 Operating System.

During the installation of Skype I got the following error message saying “The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory”.

I have reinstalled this program, but the same problem exists.

I need your suggestion with full instructions.

I would be grateful to you.

The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory:

C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsSkype. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.

Navigate to C:Program Files and continue by right clicking on Skype folder.

Next go to Properties.

You will be seeing the tab Security and proceed further to Edit permissions.

Make sure you have selected the Everyone group and the Access Type is Full Control.

Select the Replace Permissions on Subdirectories and finish this by confirming OK.

Go to Support and click on the FixIT button.

PC must be rebooted and try downloading Skype from here

Make sure the installation is done with rights as ADMIN .
