I need help! My Windows 7 computer keeps on crashing. It automatically restarts after I boot the computer and sometimes doesn’t even load Windows 7.

I’m using a Windows 7 Ultimate computer with an AMD Phenom II X4 955BE CPU and 4 GB Memory.

Hi,

Can you give more information regarding your system? Does your computer have enough cooling to compensate for the processor speed? Also, what programs did you install lately?

Yes. My computer has enough cooling fans for the entire system. The programs that I installed in the past couple of days are, Daemon Tools Lite, and Skype.

My computer is protected by Norton Internet Security so it is impossible that I contracted a virus online.

Just because you have a Norton Internet Security, doesn’t mean that your computer is completely protected.

I suspect that this is more of a software issue rather than hardware. Some malicious programs are not detected by Norton and these programs can alter your operating system.

I suggest that you perform a system restore on your computer to restore to a working restore point. You may also try the following steps to restore the default startup procedure of your Windows operating system:

1. Click on the Start button.
2. On the Search box type in msconfig and then hit Enter.
3. On the General tab, make sure that Normal startup is selected.
4. Click on Apply and then OK.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have performed a system restore and it seems to have worked.

I don’t know though if this fix is for good or not but one thing is for sure, that one of the programs I installed caused the issue. Thank you and have a good one.
