How to set auto update on Windows 7
To configure Automatic Updates in Windows 7, you will need to be logged on as the administrator on your computer and the administrator password.
Follow these steps:
- Click the START button and type in WINDOWS UPDATE in the search box. Click WINDOWS UPDATE in the program list.
- Click CHANGE SETTINGS in the left pane and select the option that you want.
- Under RECOMMENDED UPDATES, select the GIVE ME RECOMMENDED UPDATES THE SAME WAY I RECEIVE IMPORTANT UPDATES or INCLUDE RECOMMENDED UPDATES WHEN DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING, OR NOTIFYING ME ABOUT UPDATES check box, and click OK.
Windows will notify you before a download or an installation of an update begins by displaying an icon and message in the notification area of your taskbar.

Click that Automatic Update icon/message to stop download or installation immediately. Click the REMIND ME LATER in the Automatic Updates dialog box; you can specify the time that Windows should wait before reminding you for the updates in the REMINDER DIALOG BOX.

Windows will remind you about the installation in the schedule that you specified and about the download only when you are connected to the Internet.
