Window photo viewer after some flipping though image file

Hello friends,

The windows photo viewer seems to hang (Not responding) after some flipping through image file as a picture folder. "Try to End the viewer using task Manager", error pop up saying "com surrogate stopped working". Window 7 cannot even shut down after that. I have to do a hard reboot.

It seems to function fine, before I uninstalled McAfee Security Center, ran a McAfee removal program, MCPR and installed Kaspersky internet security 2011.

Has anyone experienced this problem before?

Need your advice.

This type of error is generally caused by certain codes.

So I’d first suggest you to uninstall the codec pack from the computer and check whether your issue is solved.

If the problem is not solved then perform a clean boot. This helps the computer to identifying if any 3rd party applications or startup items are causing the issue.

The steps to perform a clean boot are listed below:

1. You need to log in to an account which has administrator rights.

2. Click start and type msconfig.exe in the search box and press enter.

3. Click general tab and select the option “Selective Startup”. Also deselect the option “Load Startup Items”.

deselect the option “Load Startup Items

4. On the services tab, select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

5. Click OK to restart.

After this process you have to restore your computer to previous settings. To do so, Click Start and type msconfig.exe in the search box and press enter.

On the General tab click “Normal Startup” and click OK.

Then restart the computer.
