Hi.
If your laptop has no problems in running Windows 7 then it can run Windows 8 no problem. Windows 8, believe it or not, actually has lower system requirements than Windows 7 making it suitable for use on low power netbooks.
Below are the system requirements for Windows 8:
1 GHz or faster 32-bit or 64-bit processor
1 GB RAM (for 32-bit edition) or 2 GB RAM (for the 64-bit edition)
16 GB available hard drive free space (for the 32-bit edition) or 20 GB free hard drive space (for the 64-bit edition)
Graphics card that supports DirectX 9 and has WDDM 1.0 (or higher) device driver
A touchscreen-capable device is recommended to take advantage of the touch capabilities
Based on the specifications above, your laptop is more than adequate for Windows 8
However, Windows 8 is not yet officially released. The ISO available for download from microsoft.com is the customer preview version only.
If you want to try the preview, I suggest you run it in a virtual machine such as Virtualbox.
