I have heard that apple is building a sever farm for icloud which will cause a major threat for the environment. Is it true? If it is true then how? Please someone explain about it.

Dear Sofia,

It is based on the fact thati Cloud being a worldwide data bank for apple users would require extremely large amount of storage capacity and large unflinching servers all at the same time. A server farm, depending on its size, would require cooling and refridgeration. Large servers produce alot of heat and need to be cooled constantly or else they fail and stop working. It costs the data industry money if they do not provide enough cooling to their servers.

the environmental concern arises from the usage of such large amounts of air cooling setups for the server farm. It is not just iCloud that should be scrutinized for this, however. They are not the only ones in the world who would use air cooling on this magnitude.

It is the responsibility of the Data Centre industry to rethink their technology for cooling.
