Hi Ahmad,

The purpose of a null modem, is to connect two DTE’s directly by not letting them know that they do not have DCE’s between them. We need it because it provides cross connection and also eliminates the need for male connectors, as it only has female connectors at both ends, which allows to connect to the EIA 232 DTE ports that has male connector. If you need more help then we are available here.

Hi Ahmadraza,

A null modem is basically used to connect two devices having RS-232 ports without using any other communicating device between them. It is also known as crossover cable, as straight cable only works along with modem on devices having similar ports type (computers, printer etc).

Originally it was used to connect two computers for communication or data sharing but with the passage of time Wi-Fi and Ethernet cards almost replaced such type of devices.

Well Mr. ahmadraza I think its just for information, as I hope you would have got rid of such an ancient way of connecting your devices.

Best regards for you.
