I had the same problem when I updated my Apple phone. I was also using the exchange mail server. It was frustrating and I wasted a lot of time trying to solve it, I even uninstalled the app once. Then I installed again and still faced the same problem. Later my friend told me that the problem was that I had put a Google encrypted password on my phone. You should try checking this, and if you do, remove it. This problem is typical to the version 6.
