This might simply be a case of delay in response of lack of good internet connection. If you are certain that the problem is different, try a few of these options. Try logging in to your account through a different device. If you are able to do it successfully on other devices check for problems with your computer. I can also suggest you to use Hotmail’s (now Outlook) email client like Windows Live Mail. You need to download it from Microsoft’s website.

If you cannot get passed the home screen, try checking your internet connection if it is working. Try visiting a different website on your web browser to see if you have a working internet. On the other hand, if there’s no problem with your connection but you still cannot connect to the Hotmail home page, try checking if the site is down temporarily.

Go to Website Not Working to check if the website is down at the moment. Enter the address of Hotmail in the text field then click “check”. The site should begin checking if Hotmail is down or not. In case the website is up but you cannot connect, then it is probably down just for you. In this case, try restarting your router.

Sometimes there is something wrong with the connection when you connect to a secured website or websites that use “https” in their address. Hotmail was founded in 1996 in Mountain View, California by Jack Smith and Sabeer Bhatia with headquarter in Sunnyvale, California. It was one of the world’s first webmail services until it was acquired in 1997 by Microsoft for around $400 million.

The Hotmail webmail service before is now called Outlook.com replaced in 2013.
