Why I encounter problems on screen resolution in Windows 7 64 bit?

I have problems on my new HP Pavilion P7 Series computer with HP S2031 monitor.

Every time I change my resolution to 1600×900 (factory resolution), it suddenly crashed and prompts me a message: “Input Signal out of Range.”

Another thing, every time I launch a game to my computer, the screen can’t go back to “normal” screen resolution. This is already the second time I encountered this problem.

What do you think is the problem? Just for additional information, I have Windows 7, a 64 bit factory installed to my computer.

Hi William,

You can minimize your settings down to 800×600 to make sure it will display, not out of range. Your computer could not supported this 1600×900 and try to decrease it's resolution until 800×600. With regards to computer screen can't go back to normal screen resolution problem it would be a program problem that causes error, if you are using pirated softwares on the internet, that would be the reason. Press alt>ctr>del and select endtask if your having a problem on that program.

Thanks,

It is likely that the resolution that you selected is not supported by the monitor that you're using. Check your monitor's specifications and make sure that the said resolution is among the resolutions supported by the monitor. If not, you need to choose a resolution that is supported by your monitor. Also, there are programs and get the computer's windows system to crash. This is true especially if your games are old or were designed for older operating systems and are designed to work on lower resolutions. It will change the resolution being used by the computer and the computer may not be able to recover from the change especially if a crash happens or if the game wasn't coded to exit properly and return the resolution to default.
