I have a problem in Crunchbang. Every time I turn on my computer the time AM and PM is wrong. In BIOS it is correct. I first set the time in hardware clock and after that system clock. But when I turn off the computer every setting is lost.
I don't want to use ntpdate because my computer doesn't have internet connection all the time. Any other ideas? Thank you.
Why I can’t set the time in Crunchbang?
You can check your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system.
For a much thorough diagnostics on the system, use a disk utility application like Norton Utilities, PC Tools Performance Toolkit, or Norton SystemWorks. Any errors in the file system can cause applications to work differently.
If it does not work after checking your computer, it is possible that your CPU’s CMOS battery is already weak and needs to be replaced.
The CMOS battery is responsible for maintaining the configuration of your computer’s BIOS when it is not plugged in to the power outlet.
If your battery is already very weak, you will always have a problem with your computer’s time settings and other stuffs.
Even if you already set it right, it will always go back to its default settings and will be like this again and again until you replace the CMOS battery with a fresh one.
