I am having a problem trying to download files from the Internet. I am able to click on the links and the files download on to the computer;  however as soon as the download is  complete, the file disappears and cannot be found again.

What else could I do to try and download my files and use them?

Does the computer delete the files after it has downloaded them or just moving them and making them invisible?  Conduct a check to determine the free space of the various drives after and before the download. Do you notice that the drives’ space change by the amount you have downloaded or they don’t and just remain the same?

If you happen to be a Firefox user, try this;

Type this into the address bar "about:config" then do some changes to value that reads "browser.download.folderList" and replace with "2" then change "browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone" by replacing it with "true".

For Internet Explorer 7 users, navigate to Tools/ Internet Options and choose the advanced tab. Click Reset to restore it to its default settings.

 I hope this information helps.

Are you specifying a path for download or is it downloading to the default path? If you are using a user account, make sure you have the permission to download to the path specified. You can try this step which may solve your problem.

Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety ->User Accounts -> Turn User Account Control on or off

Check whether there is enough space in the hard disk. Also ensure that your Antivirus settings do not interfere with the download.

Hello,

Right click and save the files on the Desktop in the Internet Explorer browser.  It can show you the file, you try to access the folders.  If the file is not there anymore, it must be corrupted in the directory or maybe a confusion from the profiles.

Check the windows preview and try to download from the Internet Explorer but when you access it in another way in the specific path. Just make sure the path you putting is the right path for downloading a file or data, to avoid any error.  Check your downloader too.
