I uninstall AVG antivirus, to change it into Kaspersky. But when I already finished installing Kaspersky and rebooting the PC, the AVG antivirus was still there. But when I go to Programs and Features to uninstall the AVG again I can't no longer found the Avg.

How can I completely uninstall it?

Hello Leonardo,

Sometimes when you uninstall an application from the control panel, it does not get removed from your computer. There are files of it that still remain and you will need to remove them as follows:

  • On your computer, you will click on start, and then click on the computer.
  • After that look for the C: drive and click on it.
  • When it opens, locate the Program Files folder and click on it.
  • In the program files folder, look for the AVG antivirus folder.
  • You will need to delete it will all its contents.
  • If have CCleaner, you will need to run it to remove any files related to it completely.
  • After that you can go ahead and install Kaspersky.

Regards,

Carl

One possible reason why this problem happened is when you didn’t restart your computer after uninstalling the AVG antivirus. When this happens, the uninstall process is incomplete then you install the new program, Kaspersky, which then creates the problem. To fix the problem, you need to install AVG back and start all over again. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it.

Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select your Kaspersky product among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click to restart later. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer.

When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then restart the computer. After booting, install your AVG antivirus back then restart the computer. You can download the latest from AVG Free Antivirus. After booting, start Revo Uninstaller then repeat the same steps to uninstall AVG from your computer. Don’t forget to restart your computer. Once AVG is uninstalled, you can now install your Kaspersky product.
