There is not a rule of thumb to make more and more YouTube subscribers. But off course you can go through the best practices that are adopted but the most of YouTube. There are tons of ways to promote your YouTube channel and get subscribers but I recommend you to apply only ethical ways to increase your subscribers.
Following are some proven techniques to get more subscribers:

1. In each and every video you upload on YouTube make sure to put a link inside the video to your channel page so that others may see it and you can always ask the viewers to subscribe to your channel if they like to.

2. Subscribe to the channels of a category in which you are used to uploading the videos.

3. You can Google around for sub4sub links ( those who subscribe to your channel for free and in return they just want you to subscribe to their channel  ).

4. Try to share the videos through other mediums like Dailymotion etc and ask them to see the full version video on YouTube.

5. Try to make friends in YouTube.

6. Post comments to the videos of your category and rate the videos of others as well.

7. Put you profile picture as bold and attractive to fascinate your viewers.

8. You can go to advertise your channel in your website or blog or any of your Facebook pages !

9. Try to make attractive videos and use proven tools to optimize your videos. So that others may wonder how did you make that? This will also help you get more subscribers.

10. Always make real friends. Don’t try to send so many friend requests or comments to videos because this will be considered as spam. Instead of doing such things, try to repeat the above tips on daily basis.
