Question about Physical Layer of the OSI

According to the OSI layer the physical layer functionalities is to convert the bit into signal and place them on the medium and transmit. So the device of network that could work on Physical layer are repeater, amplifier and hub. What a repeater do? A repeater is just extend the segment of computer network.

It receive the signal if the strength of the signal is week it regenerate the signal to reach to the destination. A hub is not more different than repeater it only have multiple ports a repeater having only one inlet and one outlet port while a hub have many outlet but one inlet.

Simple as Amplifier if we want to send signal to a distance location we use Amplifier in our network. So there three device are found as working on physical layer of OSI model.
