I wanted to create a back up of my files so I was planning to get an external hard drive. The technician confuses me about the advantages between a normal external hard drive and a solid state drive which is more expensive.

To tell you the truth, SSD hard disk drive is believed to be the best external hard drive to purchase if you're looking for excellent performance.

SSD is much more preferable than others as it doesn’t possess movable parts. All of the storage operate in Solid State Drive is performed by its flash memory chips without rotating motor is necessary to rotate the magnetic plates which is necessary for hard drives. For any portable computer power usage, it is a very important factor.
The SSD uses very less power while being operated. Therefore this is preferred to be used in laptops along with devices running mostly by their battery. In addition, it gives us faster data access option. This feature of solid state drive satisfies and makes the majority of its users happy as now a day speed really matters a lot. More the speed, the device is said to be more advantageous.

Solid state hard drives are the hard drives that  don't use any disks.  It has no moving parts that’s why it works is faster and lasts longer.

It is the wave of the future, due to the reason that solid state hard drives are new technology, that’s why it is expensive. With the passage of time its prices will go down as the development proceeds.

On the other hand, normal hard drives use moving diskettes, and it is slow as compared to solid state hard drive.

Solid state hard drive is more durable and lasts longer and a better option than normal hard disk.

Dear Robert,

actually what I suggest you is for your given problem is that you can go for the normal external hard drive. It means that there are some of the external drives which are connected by the ports and those ports are the best way to connect the external hard drives.

So try to use those normal external drives, it is not too much expensive and also it reduces the problem of damages of hard drive because it is outside from the inner system and because of portability you can easily move it from one place to other.

Thanks.

External hard drives has 3 main functions and that is to expand your storage size, back up your data and share it to another computer. It is very simple to use since you just need to connect it to your computer's USB port. It will act just the same as your internal hard drive. External hard drives are based on the 3.5-inch internal drives. The good thing about using an external drives is you can store all your data cheaply. Today, you can purchase it for $.0.75/GB. SSD on the other hand is similar to a USB memory stick but a lot larger. It has no moving parts and data are stored in microchips. SSD is faster than HDD but it is expensive. The price is $1.00/GB.

If you don't mind the price, go for SSD. Soon, it will replace the HDD.
