Hello,
PHP and ASP.NET are completely different programming language to develop things for the web platform. Both are powerful and extreme.
ASP.NET depends on Windows server hosting as only Windows servers can run ASP.NET codes. On the other hand, PHP is flexible to run on any server: Linux or Windows. Hosting Windows server costs a lot where Linux server is free.
ASP.NET is built using C# where PHP is based on HTML. Depending on complexity, PHP is much easier than ASP.NET.
PHP is more popular than ASP.NET. In the case of scalability, both are highly scalable in any way.
So I recommend you to start learning PHP.
