I have bought a new Laptop with the following configurations:

Processor: Intel i3

RAM: 2 GB

HDD: 500 GB

OS was not provided with the Laptop.

Can you suggest me which is the best Operating System to suit my Laptop?

It should free of cost or having nominal price.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Hi Leonora

The best Operating System that i can suggest to you is Windows 7. Because it has the ability to speed up your Laptop, it only uses less memory when it's idle and less graphics memory when you launch. And it has a Ready Boost, when you run low in memory, meaning it speeds up your Laptop by using other storage spaces.

Windows 7 includes new themes and backgrounds and it also have a desktop slideshow that you can personalize.

Hi Lenora,

You can try the best free operating system which is named UBUNTU. This is Linux based OS and It is very easy to use. All applications are free to use. If you want to have some new experience you can try this. It is fully different from Microsoft's operating system. This operating system is helpful for the programmer.
I personally suggest you to go for UBUNTU.

Your processor is fine as well as your hard drive except for the memory. If that’s a laptop you got there, 2 GB is kind of low. It’s kind of hard to play games with that amount of memory. Running applications should be fine like Microsoft Office Word but playing games would be challenging.

With 2 GB RAM, the ideal operating system will be Microsoft Windows XP. Windows XP requires 233 MHz or faster processor, 64 MB RAM, 1.5 GB free space, 800 x 600 minimum screen resolution, video card, and sound card. You can also install Microsoft Windows Vista. Windows Vista requires 800 MHz or faster processor, 512 MB RAM, 20 GB free space, video card, and sound card.

Installing Windows 7 is possible but you will have problems running games and software. You will experience poor performance. Windows 7 requires 1 GHz or faster processor, 1 GB RAM for 32-bit and 2 GB RAM for 64-bit, 16 GB free space for 32-bit and 20 GB for 64-bit, and video card with WDDM 1.0 driver or higher support.

The best operating system is always the latest as it has continued support from Microsoft. Windows 10 requires 1 GHz or faster processor, 1 GB RAM for 32-bit and 2 GB RAM for 64-bit, 16 GB free space for 32-bit and 20 GB for 64-bit, video card with WDDM 1.0 driver or higher support, and 800 x 600 minimum screen resolution.

If it’s possible to add more RAM to your computer, do so to allow you to install newer operating systems like Microsoft Windows 10.
