I have purchased Lenovo usb web camera recently. I am having trouble in installing the web camera software as it is asking for serial number and the number written on the camera does not work. Does anyone know where webcam serial number is specified?

Hallo Jonathan,

The number written on the camera may not be the same one to use when installing the webcam software. If you installing the software from a CD you will need to check to the following:

  • Insert the CD into the DVD drive.
  • Wait for some time for it to load and then go to "My  Computer" and click on it to open it.
  • After it opens, locate the CD drive and then right click on it.
  • Choose Autoplay.
  • That will open the files and folders on the CD.
  • Among the files and folders, look for a file that has a serial number that you will need to activate the webcam software. It should be somewhere  in there.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Carl

Hi Jonathanchandler,

The serial number you entered was the manufacturing product number of that web cam. There should be a CD with the web cam. In that CD cover you will get a code in red color label. That is the original serial code of your web cam.

I hope that it will work.

Thanks.

Hi,

It's easy to find the serial number of the usb camera. You just need to check the cd case you have. Once you have it with you., just find the serial number by checking the red sticker on that cd case. Remember, it is red in color, and it should be put on the opening side of the cd case.
