If your LG Smartphone is having problems, the idea of updating its firmware is good but you don’t need to download it from any other website. You should update your phone’s firmware from the official LG website and when updating the firmware, you don’t need to download the firmware itself manually and install it on your phone.

Use the PC Suite designed for LG Smartphones to update your phone’s operating system. If you want to update the firmware of your device, download and install LG PC Suite for Windows. For Mac, download and install LG PC Suite for OS X. Once installed, connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable.

After this, on your Smartphone, tap the USB notification in the notification panel which normally appears at the top of the screen. Next, tap “Media device (MTP)” if it’s not selected automatically. MTP needs to be selected before the PC Suite recognizes your device. You need to do this if MTP is not selected automatically every time you want to connect your phone to your computer.

Now, to update the firmware on your phone, with your phone connected to your computer and MTP already selected, start the LG PC Suite on your computer. Select “Software update” tab and click “Software update” to check for an available update. If an update is available, click Start to update your device.
