Where can I get Mapinfo free country vector maps?

I would like to test the free version of Mapinfo vector maps in South Africa. Does the free version have the ability to create and edit GPS vector maps then import ESRI shape (SHP) files to Microsoft MapPoint. Where can I get Mapinfo free country vector maps?

I'm on Windows 8.

Hey Parks,

Firstly, you can get the MapInfo vector maps of South Africa here.The link mentioned has vector maps of any country you want and the available formats for download are: 

  • JPEG
  • PDF
  • AI

I think the free version lets you edit/create GPS vector maps but if you want to import it into MapInfo you either have to use the Spatial Data Import Code of Microsoft

Or a similar third party software like: MapPoint GIS Data Import (a paid software).
