When try to play GTA 4 I get an error.

I have installed GTA4 from original CD, but when I try to start it I get a fatal error.

I tried to update my graphics card drivers to the latest but no use.

My graphic card is Nvidia Geforce 8600 so I think it should be okay for that game.

Hi Nolank,

Since you are using a separate graphics card, there appears to be no way that you can adjust how much video memory you have.  To make sure you don't go over the memory of your card, turn texture detail down to medium.  Lower other settings until the error does not appear anymore.  Apparently, your video card does not have enough memory to run the game at the higher settings.

Also, download the latest patch for your game.  Some users report the error pop after they apply the latest patch so it is better to apply the latest patch before fixing it so you don't have to fix it again after applying the new patch.

Hope this helps!

The game need more memory and the more it needed memory the higher your settings will be. Try increasing your Virtual RAM and decrease the game settings. Because this game it more on GPU Power and using GPU memory. Install the latest patches and watch the video below to fix it:
