What’s missing on the OCS Server

Could someone help me solve my problem on MS Office Communication Server 2007 or the MS Live Communications Server 2005 SP1? The thing is I used MS Live Communication Server (OCS) to transfer some files. It was very convenient that it only transfer files from federated users through firewall perfectly. Now, I am using the new MS Office Communication Server 2007. I observed that this new communication server doesn’t have the same file transferring feature like the previous one. The federated users can file transfer if only they will send something first to other users at the end of the firewall. I already checked and verified all firewall ports just to fix this but nothing changed. Am I using it the wrong way or is there something missing on the OCS Server?

Hallo John Tiller,

You will have to check and ensure that the firewall is not blocking the connection of MS Office Communication Server 2007 and hence hindering the transfer of the files. Also ensure the internet information service is enabled on your computer for that process to be successful.

You should know that in the internet information service, the MGCWebService virtual directory uses anonymous access and that is by the use of IUSR_<ComputerName> account, that is itself part of the guests group of the local machine. You should change the anonymous access of the MGCWebService to the Group Chat Admin service account to fix that problem.

Hope this helps.
