Currently I have my Computer lying flat on my desk with my Monitor on top and speakers on the sides but I do not particularly like it. Any ideas on the best and most convenient and not to mention best looking setup. Feel free to share your own as well.

Try out this. Put Your Monitor at Top & Both of Speakers below near CPU. Route all the cables from behind the desktop. You cannot do many practical’s with it.

1. First of all you need to connect the monitor to your laptop with your HDMI cable(if your monitor doesn't support HDMI get a HDMI to VGA/DVI converter) you can buy it from here (Amazon).

2. Turn your laptop on and then  close the lid of your laptop quickly. You will need an external keyboard and mouse for this to work as you know it.

3. Now the laptop will start with the externally connected monitor as it's the main display.

If you have a similar computer stand such as the one displayed below, you may want to try how I set up my system before. It is very similar to the one I originally used though it got torn to pieces when typhoon Ondoy hit us. See image.

Since I am also using a desktop CPU, I used to put it on top of the stand, the monitor in the middle where it should literally go, and the speakers on top of each CD trays. Or if you don’t want your CPU on top of the computer stand, you can also place it at the bottom right beside where the power supply should go.

Your computer setup really depends on the type of computer stand you are using because that will dictate how devices will be placed.
