Digitizers provide a way to input non digital information into the computer. An example of this type of device is the image scanner (sometimes referred to as a graphics scanner). What is the working of the image scanner based in the diagram?

There are different types of scanners available in the market. Each one has different characteristics than others. With the improving technology image scanners are also improving. But all of them have a same basic working.

The most important part of the scanner is CCD sensor. It is made of small diodes which convert light into electrons. Light source is used to illuminate the image which you want to scan. This light source can be a xenon lamp or a fluorescent lamp.

Mirrors are used to reflect the light so that maximum light is put on the image to be scanned. Light is reflected back from the image where CCD senses this light of different intensity and convert this light to electrons. Scanner has also a motor because of which the lamp moves throughout the document.

The CCD is the main part in the scanner. It is also known as CIS.).The device used to scan consists of a glass plate. This is where the image to be scanned is placed. The image is illuminated by light source situated below the glass. The light is greatly reflected when it illuminates a white part than when it does the same for a heavily closured spot.

The scan head is controlled using an electric motor mounted so that it moves it using gears. The reflection from the image is captured by the scanner. A mirror system is used to align the bounced beam to the lens. The main function of the lens is to pass the light to a diode tat is photo sensitive which intern transforms the light into an electric signal.

Each analogue measurement of voltage is stored as a digital pixel representing either a white or black part. The light is then filtered by a RGB filter before forming the original picture

The information is then transferred to a computer which transforms it to ASCII, a format that can be read by the computer. Different scanners operate differently majorly because of/Scanning technology/Resolution/Bit depth/shape and size.

Scanner allows PC to convert a picture or text into a digitized form, the scanner scans an image and convert it into the code that a PC understands or we can say it concerts into graphical form.

An image scanner or a graphic scanner are just simple scanner, a device which optically scans images, printed text, handwriting and converts it into digitized form. Commonly we find desktop scanners which are also called flat bed scanner as shown in diagram.

Where we place the required text or image on glass and get it scanned or digitized in our system and then can transfer or use it as required. Scanner used today normally use charged coupled device (CCD) or contact image sensor.

Today scanner as are changing their form, today digital cameras are also as good as scanner as they have technology of anti-shake, they are also as good as scanners.
