What is virus? How can we prevent from it?

A computer virus is a program that executes on your computer with a bad intention of crashing your computer or corrupting the documents that you are using on the computer. The virus is normally a .EXE that executes as an application and therefore it embeds itself in other files so as to be executed when you execute those files.

You can protect your personal computer from computer viruses by installing an antivirus which will scan any USB device and also scan any files that you may want to install on the computer to prevent the virus from crashing your system. Some of the best antiviruses that I will recommend are AVG, Kaspersky and Bitdefender.

A computer virus is a small program which resides in computer storage either independently or along with other programs.

We can prevent from it by doing the following tasks:

1. Restrict users’ access to the system, working either offline or online.

2. Only allow genuine users to use the system and that too under supervision.

3. Never load an unknown disk into the system unless we make sure it is virus free.

4. Write-protect our pen-drive when using them in other computer systems.

5. Scan all CDs, DVDs, Pen-drives with an anti-virus software such as Norton, McAffee, Kaspersky etc. before using them.
