What should I look for when buying an e-reader?

I would like to buy an e-reader and, even though most of them are similar, some offer unique features. I am not exactly sure how important these features are. I am buying an e-reader because bright screens give me a headache.

Do luminescent screens on e-readers induce the same fatigue to the eyes? Are WiFi and 3G internet connections useful, considering most of my collection is already sorted and waiting to be uploaded? What is the most important feature I should look for in an e-reader?
