What is Limeware? What is it used for? Why was it in the midst of a controversial legal case in the year 2010? Is it still in use? Is it safe to use in the sense that is it free from spyware/adware? Is there a free version of this available currently on the internet?

LimeWire is software that allows you to download data for exapmle:movies, music, programs, documents and images etc) to your computer. LimeWire is a legal program, but downloading copyrighted material is illegal. Most of the information on LimeWire is copyrighted but downloading them is illegal.

The LimeWire program itself is safe, but the problem is to the files that are in this program. When you download something such a movie from this program, your computer is at risk because you allow outsiders to enter in(especially when you do not have antivirus protection, your computer will be attacked. If you have a antivirus, you can select a file before downloading it and scan it for viruses.

If you are caught downloading copyrighted data from LimeWire, the penalty is severe.
