Comic-con is a comic book convention. (Where comic book convention is an event which fans of a comic book gather to launch activity or a program, to meet experts etc. The Gonzo is a style of offensive films in some other meaning, but if you are talking about the Gonzo in Comic-con, it is puppet character by Jim Henson's Muppets. It is also called a “Cigar Box Frackle” because his character lived in a cigar box. I think he is one of the dead comics character since this puppet appearance made 1970 Christmas special "The Great Santa Claus Switch".  Hope this informed you.

It started in 1970 when a group of science fiction, movie, comics fans including the late Shel Dorf, Richard Alf, and Ken Krueger, banded together to put on the first comic book convention in Southern California.
