I installed the Leap Motion software on my Windows 7 64 bit system. I'm having an error of "an error occurred when attempting to contact the server". What does the Leap software error mean? I have disabled my Avast antivirus but still the same results. Anyone having the same problem?

Well first thing you need to check when it comes to connection problems is your firewall. You disabled your antivirus but your Windows Firewall may be still on.
Go to Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall
If you can't find it in the Control Panel just click in the upper right corner of your screen View By and set to Small Icons.
In there go to Turn Windows Firewall On or off as shown on picture
There will be two red X icons saying "Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended)". Check them both and click ok.
NOTICE: Disabling Windows Firewall puts you at risk. Just check if that is the problem. If it's not turn it back on.
If that doesn't help you I can only direct you to their support forum where you have to ask developers them self.
