Hi techyv,

What are the disadvantages of high performance upgrades? My office mate was trying to upgrade his Acer laptop with 2.1 gghrtz processor speed and a Windows 7 starter OS and after the configuration of the high performance upgrade, he restarted the PC. We noticed that the computer performance is slowing down and the computer motion freezes every time.

What could be the possible cause?

Hoping for your help.

Thanks.

Hi Deborah,

After some time of using your laptop some of processes are left over so they consume your computer resources. You should clean those processes. There are a lot of different kinds of applications which will reduce the lag of your laptop. I recommend using the Advanced System Care. It's equipped with a lot of tools which can boost your computer.

Although you should consider using to downgrade your operating system to Windows XP since it's using less resources.

Hi Deborah,

You might want to check your CPU usage. High usage of CPU usually leads to computer slowing down or freezing. To check it, follow this instruction:

• Right click on your taskbar and select TASK MANAGER.
• Go to PERFORMANCE tab and you should be able to see your CPU usage history there.

Right click on your taskbar and select TASK MANAGER

If this is the case, try the following solutions to see which one will work:

• Run your antivirus and spyware. Usually this causes the CPU percentage to strike high.
• If there is no malware or virus detected, clean your Startup. Do this by typing MSCONFIG in the start search, click STARTUP tab and uncheck unnecessary applications that are not needed when your computer starts up.
• Go back to your TASK MANAGER and select the PROCESS tab. Here you can see all the applications that are running. Terminate or get rid of the programs that you think is unnecessary.

In case that your CPU usage is not high but your computer keeps on freezing all the time, reset or flash the BIOS of your system.

This process should be done properly, otherwise it can ruin your system even more. For a step-by-step guide on flashing your BIOS, go to Acer’s support site.

I hope you can get this issue resolved with these solutions.
