Hello Martha,

  • LPT Cable or Parallel Cable lets you connect devices which have 25 Socket with your PC. It is an outdated Cable, however, most of the old printer models are using the LPT Cable. LPT Cable's disadvantage is its speed.

  • Ethernet Cable or RJ-45 Cable used for high-speed networking between two devices. It connects Modem, Router, Computer, and Network Printer over the Network. Ethernet Cable's advantages are its Speed and Stability.

Hope this answers your question.

Regards,

Kroskey

Hi Martha Nelson,

LPT (Line Print Terminal or Local Print Terminal) is the original, and still common, name of the parallel port interface on IBM PC-compatible computers. While Ethernet is a computer networking technologies for local area networks (LAN). If you want to share your printer to a network or vice versa you will need Ethernet to connect to the other computer on the network.
