I heard something new from Oracle is coming to market in December or January. But what are they?

What kind of change are we going to see in it?

Hello Stacy,

The following are the new features in the new Oracle version that is coming out soon:

  • Support forSQL Model Calculations

    The new version of Oracle allows you to specify complex formulas while  at the same time enabling you to prevent occurrence of multiple joins as well as UNION clauses.

  • It has got Materialized View Refresh Enhancements

    The new version of Oracle has got materialized view fast refresh that involves multiple tables which could be either r partitioned or  not partitioned. It does not require that a materialized view log be available.

  • It has got Query Rewrite Enhancements

    The Query rewrite performance for the new version of Oracle is enhanced since query rewrite is now able to utilize multiple materialized views to rewrite a query.

What is coming new from Oracle?

There are a few new things from Oracle, Some of them include;

1. Oracle Database Monitoring tool- an easy way to monitor databases
2. Release of Java SE 6 from supporting Java softwares in Feb 2013 and maybe switching to Java SE 7-
3. Java 8 will be released in Summer 2013

There is nothing major that is to be released in particular.
