Bounce rate or exit rate, is used in web traffic analysis.  This involves internet marketing.  It is the percentage of visitors who visit the site and leave (bounce) instead of viewing other pages in the same site.  It happens when the visitor views just one page, without viewing other pages before a specified session-timeout occurs.

Under Google analytics, this is one of the ways to measure the quality of the visit.

High bounce rate- means the site entrance (landing page) is not relevant to your visitors.

Low bounce rate- means that your landing page is favorable to your visitors so more visitors stay on your site and convert.

So, your site should have a lower bounce rate.

To improve (or lower) the bounce rate of your site, you have to fix your website.  You have to fit your landing pages to the keywords and the ads that you run.

Your page should  provide the information, services and things you have advertised in  your ad.  You have to give the visitors what they are looking for.

If your keywords and the information on your ads corresponds to your landing page, surely, you will have lesser bounce rates.

I hope this helps!

By definition, bounce rate is the measurement of the statistical data of the number of people who visit a particular website and exit without visiting any other page of submenus of the website. In this case, Bouncing means the same as exit which means that the user has left the page rather than continuing to browse through the website. This technique is employed in many websites like Facebook.

In the context of Google analytics too bounce rate means the same, that is, to leave or exit. Bounce rate should always be low as high bounce rate shows that a larger number of website visitors are leaving without browsing further.

Lower bounce rate means that the content of the website is good enough to capture the interest of the visitors and they take a look at the contents of the various pages of the website, increasing the popularity in turn.  If the bounce rate is bad, then it can be made better by posting and linking interesting series of blogs and articles. In case you are a WordPress blogger, you can add the WordPress related plug-in. Also, you can link keywords wherever required to make the website more attractive.

Bounce rate shows the percentage of visitors who leave the website just after visiting the homepage of the website. It is the parameter of how relevant your website seems to the people who visit it. A bad bounce rate reflects the irrelevance of the basic content of the website and shows that it needs improvement.

In order to have less bounce rate, more attractive links, images and tag lines must be added to the content of the website. This will definitely make your website more relevant. Keywords can be tailored to the content of the website so that the website becomes easy to search. It should be kept in mind that the homepage delivers everything that advertises.

The Bounce rate report of any website can be viewed by selecting Visitors from the menu. Under that select Visitor Trending and then Bounce Rate.
