Hi, I am a user of Western Digital red 6 TB. Well, I have just bought it. My problem is, my new HDD is crashing several times. As I am a video editor, I have to keep large files such as 50 GB/file. But whenever I load these files, the  HDD crashes. Any solution please?

Check if your hard drive is already formatted before you saved any files. It’s not good to save files into a hard drive that has not been formatted yet. Though your computer will allow copying of files to unformatted drives, the files can get corrupted. Also, since you are using a SATA hard drive with that capacity, 6 TB, it should be formatted with NTFS file system.

Though you can format it using FAT32 file system, you may encounter capacity problems. The format tool provided in Windows only supports up to 32 GB. So, since you have 6 TB, 32 GB is really small for a drive. To format a drive larger than 32 GB, you need to use NTFS.

Also, check if the hard drive is connected properly inside your CPU. Since it is a SATA drive, it uses a different type of cable different from the IDE drive. A loose cable can cause program crashing and can also damage your data.
