Whenever I try a video chatting on my Notebook PC then my webcam does not show anything except for a white screen. The condition is normal in the case of photos but the webcam shows unnecessarily white screen with some dark patches on the edge of screen which is very annoying. And next thing is, the white screen shows up only after some seconds of video chatting. I am using HP Pallivian G6 notebook. Please fix this problem I am very annoyed with it.

Check the settings of the webcam. If it is a HP built in webcam, uninstall the old drivers, and then make sure that you have the latest webcam drivers installed.

To uninstall the old drivers:

  1. Go to the Device Manager on your computer.  (If you don’t know where it is, click Start and in the search box type Device Manager and click on it)
  2. Look for the HP Webcam and click on it
  3. Click on the Driver tab and uninstall the driver
  4. If you are prompted to restart your compute, restart it now.
  5. When your PC has finished booting up, the driver will reinstall and the webcam should be running fine.

Follow these steps to make sure you have the latest version of the driver for your webcam:

  1. Go here to enter the following details into the spaces provided to make sure you have the latest drivers installed.

Either click on the Identify Now button on the left to let HP identify products and recommend solutions to problems, or enter your model number of your Notebook and it will find the product, or click on the down arrow by Narrow your Selection and click on the make and model of your Notebook.  Click on the continue button when you have made your selection.
