I have recently purchased a digital webcam, its plug n play; but if i access it through video chat in any messenger then the image is in black/white (Negative mode); however if i play it without any messenger then image is normal.

I have tried to access it through msn, yahoo etc..

But result is same on all messengers. Moreover,

I have gone through all settings as well but still issue stands unresolved.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Please note, every program like Yahoo Messenger, MSN, have an option to setup the webcam, installing the webcam on the system will not necessarily works with the messengers without it is setup with that particular messengers web cam set up options.

Let’s take the yahoo Messenger webcam setup option:

  • Open the yahoo messenger and login.
  • Now go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  • On the options select Preferences and click on it.
  • Select the “Webcam" and click in the circle "Always allow the following people to view my webcam.
  • Click on "Super Webcam" and in the circle click "Start Super Webcam mode automatically".
  • Then click OK.

On the Live Messenger

  • Open the live Messenger
  • Navigate to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “Action."
  • Select "TOOLS" and click "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the instructions.
  • Your web cam should work now in both the yahoo and live messenger

That should probably be an issue with the webcam settings, and although you have said that you have already checked them I will advise that you recheck them one more time.

If you had made any changes to the settings, restore to the default settings and see if everything works fine after that.

In case it does not work yet, then I will suggest that you try the following:

  • Uninstall the webcam from your computer, and hoping that you have its setup somewhere, install it again and see if it works.
  • Still not working, then try an alternative webcam application, for instance YouCam.
  • Another thing you should do is make sure the webcam drivers are installed.
