Okay so i got a pretty nice computer as a present (and i don't know a lot about computers i'm just now wanting to get into it and modding cases and what's not so if i ask silly questions please realize this :P) . what i really am concerned about is the water cooling i'm going to mod my pc to look a lot more flashy with lights and a lot of accessories and i want to get some green water cooling tubes and from what i can tell (ibuypower put it together for me) the water cooling only goes to the motherboard and when i'm taking off my  tubes to put the green ones on the water doesn't sit in the tubes does it? obviously i wouldn't want water going all over the place 😛 also i want to get the things for water cooling that look like little small clear water tanks i don't know if they are necessary or i have them and they look different but i just want them for the looks with the dye and all that stuff i also have the rubber holes for the water cooling tubes and i was wondering why you would need to bring them outside the case? truthfully im just trying to figure out as much as i can about water cooling because i don't know a lot as i'm sure you can tell and i've never modded pc's before sorry if my question is long by the way lol i like to fit in as much information as i can

You understand that water is not allowed to be used on a computer, either for wiping or doing anything. And it is not just the computer but most electronic devices. The computer has its cooling system and therefore you will not need to trouble yourself in coming up with a cooling system that will cool the system when it overheats.

The computer has its own fan that will cool the system  when you are using it so that it does not heat up. And in case you need to clean the computer of any dust or dirt that might have accumulated for instance on the monitor screen or the keyboard, you should never use water but instead obtain a cleaning liquid and use it. You can get the liquid from stores that sell computer accessories. When you happen to use water on your computer and it gets to the motherboard, the whole system may fail to work.

Hello Grrant,

Water cooling is probably not the best solution for over-heated PCs but can be used. An alternative solution is to use thermal paste on your processor to function as a heat absorbing sink so that your PC doesn't get too hot. An example of water-based cooling system however can be found in this YouTube video.

If you decide to stick with thermal paste, that i highly recommend, you can learn about applying thermal paste to your processor from the above video. I would suggest however, that if you decide to go with the water-based cooling system, please do it under supervision of a professional as it can be very dangerous if it goes wrong.

I hope that was helpful.

Abe.
