Dear Malina,

The Sony Ericsson runs on S60 software Platform (formerly Series 60 User Interface) they are programs used on mobile phones that runs on Symbian OS. S60 was developed Nokia in collaboration with Sony Ericsson, and allow access to everybody as an open source program which is regarded as the foundation of the Symbian MOS.

The first S60 was developed in 2001 and released in 2002 for the Nokia 7650, and the OS platform has since seen 5 updated editions. The S60 has since been replaced for Smartphones by Nokia Belle OS, as well as the non-Nokia Windows Phone. I hope, your question is answered.

Thanks

Hello,

The answer to your question may be somewhat like this-

Some of the Sony Ericsson W series mobiles have got their own proprietary OS while many of them are on the Java platform. Many of the W series mobile OS say proprietary and Java MIDP 2.0 support or more.

Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) is a specification which is used for Java on embedded devices like mobiles. Now MIDP 2.0 or more on W series means it is used for better UI, multimedia, games, over the air (OTA) as well as for greater connectivity.

Thanks

Kemper Luke
