Voice verification in mobile security:Is it worth it?

What IS the prospect of using voice verification as a means of securing a mobile device? How will this technology work? Will this technology be cheaper than using biometric identification on touch pad devices as a security option? What are the disadvantages of using such a method. Can this be misused by people impersonating voices?

Voice verification in mobile security:Is it worth it?

Hello,

Unlike other biometric methods of authentication, voice biometric is very easy to use with less pain and les effort. It is possible to use voice based biometric technology in mobile devices like mobile phones, tablet PC etc. Here in voice biometric, the user’s unique voice will be authenticated by matching with the voice which was already stored in the database memory. All the frequency levels of the voice must match. Then only that user can gain access to the device. This type of authentication mode is conspicuously cheaper than finger based biometrics or any other pattern recognition. Despite of ease to use, there are drawbacks like if the user suffers from cold then he/she may not be able to access the device. Also, there may be a chance to imitate the user’s voice by any others so that he may gain access to the device.
