Yes you are right, VideoLAN Organization have launched their 2 VLC media applications, which are VLC Beta (NEON Version) and VLC Direct Pro Free. All media formats can be played just like a PC Version. There is also network support. When playing a video, a separate file for audio and or subtitles can be played instead of embedded one, just like the PC version. It is in Beta state and mostly for the use of intruders so one should use at his own risk. Pro version is comparably stable and with free Pro features for the time being. About iOS, there is also a version for iOS, but a different one compared to the classic version. It uses same plugins but slightly different interface.
