I have used VLC media player for some time now to play movie and music. But recently am getting an error when I open the program as shown below.

VLC Media Player is an awesome media player supporting a large number of media file formats. The problem to you seems to be because of bad installation or older version. To fix this issue, check the followings:
1. Download the latest VLC Media Player.
2. Uninstall the older one, then install the latest one. While installing, when the section "Choose components" comes, don't forget to check the tick telling "Delete preferences and cache".
3. Click "Next".
Also, delete the temporary files from "%appdata%", restart your PC.
Now your VLC issue will disappear for sure.
