Network virtualization is the method of combining software and hardware resources and functionality of network into a single, software-based entity or a virtual network. It may be classified into internal and external virtualization. External Virtualization sub divides or combines LANs into virtual networks improving the efficiency of a data center. Internal Virtualization sets a single system with software emulating a physical network. It finds its application in app development. It is also used to simulate real-world system software and hardware. Wireless network virtualization has wider scope in air interface and infrastructure virtualization. It can be achieved by combining NICs, firewalls, Virtual LANs and VMs, network storage devices, etc. Thus, Network virtualization is the best way to convert the network system into the administrative entity.
