I am using Windows 7 Home edition. Before that I used Windows XP and got affected by many viruses when I tried to use a pen drive on my PC. My friends say Windows 7 is more secure than Windows XP.

Does Windows 7 have a better virus shield than Windows XP?

Yes of course Windows 7 is much more better than Windows XP and its file protection system.

Windows 7 has a built in windows defender which is good to keep your PC clean but to make sure that your PC is not affected by viruses you should install some Antivirus program.

I would suggest you to download and install Microsoft Security essentials, which is a very good antivirus. It will not slow down your PC and at the same will give you the security that your PC will not be affected by any type of virus. I am using this Antivirus for a long time and I am satisfied with its performance.

You can download it from Microsoft web site.
