IT experts I need your help! I’m having a problem with my computer. My icons keep disappearing one by one. I tried installing an Antivirus to get rid of any virus that’s attacking my computer. But when I scanned my computer the Antivirus does not detect any viruses inside my computer. Is there any Antivirus software that you can recommend to get rid of my problem.

Since no virus are detected after scanning with Antivirus software, assume that there are a lot of icons on the desktop. If too many icons are shown without covering each other, then those overlapping icons could be invisible because the screen is completely filled and no place left for the new one.

If you want those disappeared icons again appear, you can open a new folder and drag the visible into the folder, then any other disappeared will appear.

Hi! There,

In constant cases your problem can be resolved with a simple solution. For hidden icons; from the desktop just right click it. Select then the arrange Icons by and mark the show desktop Icons.

If problem is still on hand then try this one,

You don't need to restart your Windows with this method only your Explorer process.
Press the tabs of CTRL + ALT + DEL, select the Task Manager. (I included an image for more understanding).

From the Task Manager, please click the File and select the New Task (run).
After selecting the New Task, a window or box of Create New Task will appear. Please type on the box explorer.exe and hit OK button.

From this action, your registry will be reloaded and will cause for your icons to be back sooner. If it doesn't work, try this one. For the reason that windows are corrupted, try running System file checker. (System File Checker is a tool that scans and restores corrupted files.)

To run this tool in Windows 7 or Vista,

  • This can be located at Windows folder.
  • From there type cmd in the search box.
  • Right click cmd, choose Run as administrator.
  • Command prompt window will appear, type there sfc/scannow and Enter tab.
  • For a moment this will run.
  • If in case the System File Checker is unable to start to check the Windows Resource Protection and could not start the repair service, see if the windows modules installer is disabled. For this method, go back to.
  • Start >>>> search box >>>> type services.msc >>>> hit Ok tab. These services should be set manually.

I hope I have helped you with your problem. God bless!
