Hi,

In my computer videos are running very slowly and why is that?

I have the latest driver software for my videocard but it does not make a difference.

Can anyone tell me how to run videos faster on my computer?

Hi,

To speed up your computer you need to do the following:

  • %temp% from the Run command and delete all temporary files. Before deleting temporary files you need close all active programs running with your computer.
  • Recent from the Run command and delete the shortcut of all recent files.
  • Prefetch from the Run command and delete them all.
  • Defragment your computer from the Start > Program > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter > Defragment.

You need to do the task everyday or when you feel necessary.

Moreover, you need to keep your Antivirus up to date.

If you feel any problem with your Antivirus, collect an update  version of Antivirus.

I hope you understand it.

Thanks

There are some factors for slow video:

  • Data on your hard drive is constantly being recorded and deleted. This can cause gaps between segments of the hard drive that store data, causing a condition known as fragmentation. Fragmentation can slow the hard drive's ability to read data when you access it.
  • System memory and the hard drive spin rate also play an important role in smooth media playback. Hard drives designed for full resolution video playback spin at 7,200 RPMs. Older hard drives spin at 5,400 RPMs
  • The performance of the CPU is critical to decoding audio and video files. The higher resolution the file, the more processing speed is necessary to decode it. High definition video and audio may require more processing speed than your computer delivers.
Ways of faster video:
  • properly fragment hard drive
  • hard drive spin rate must be impressive
  • CPU is more powerful for process video

Yes I got it! Got the process right and look at the picture below.

After doing the defrag actually the video has this improvement on its speed.

I don't know if I was just expecting it..

Some sort of psychological effect after doing the steps.

But I can say it is faster than before.

Thanks Nihal.
