Video Cards: They’re Importance and How do they help

Are video cards important in all computers?

How important are they?

I'm planning to purchase my personal notebook computer and I've learned that not all computers have video cards, and that made me think of those questions.

If they're important, why did others don't have it?

Please help me with my confused mind..

Thanks!.

Video cards are important for computer used for games, video and photo editing and other applications that demands quality display. If you are using your notebook computer for work, Microsoft applications and application that does not require quality display you can forget about installing a video card. The main reason of installing a video card is to minimize the workload on your processor. Video card will independently process the display instead of your processor doing the job. For me it not really important to install a video card on a notebook. Also I don't think you can install one on a notebook computer. Notebook computers does not have expansion slots aside from the RAM or physical memory slot.

Hi,

Video card is important for computing but not for all. Those people whose are doing normal official work, they do not need video card for it. Video card is for high resolution. You already have built in video card for general purpose. If you need high quality of graphics for some reason then you may need video card.

Video card needs for graphics work. Of you are planning to make a 3d video file or you are working on 3d graphics then you need a video card.

Other use is for gamming. If you want to play a high quality of graphics game then you need video card for it.

Hi Diane,

Actually you are misinformed on this topic as video cards are a must for computers or else you would not be able to display anything on your monitors. People often mistake "Integrated" as meaning there is no video card installed but actually Integrated just means it had already been built into the motherboard. There are two types of video cards, the Integrated or the add on type.

The importance of the video card to your computer is that it handles the graphical display of what you see on your monitor. If you have a bad video card you will have a bad display on your monitor and you won't be able to see details that much in pictures. While if you had a good video card you will have a good display and viewing details on a picture will become possible.

All in all you can not operate your computer without a graphics card, that is how important it is.
