Hello all,

I tried to upgrade my existing vSphere 5 vCenter server few days back to the recently released 5.1 version.

During the installation of the vCenter Single Sign On (SSO) software the following error message popped up on my screen.

The screenshot is attached below:

The error reads as:

Error 29115: Cannot authenticate to DB

Can anyone please explain what does this error code means?

If anyone has any idea please do let me know.

How can I remove this error?

Waiting for your suggestions

Regards

Lopez

Hello Lopez,

To resolve this issue, you will need to make sure that the server authentication option is set to SQL Server as well as Windows Authentication mode on the SQL server.

Use the following procedure:

  • First connect to the vCenter Server database using the SQL Management Studio.
  • And then right-click the database server and then click Properties.
  • After that go to the Security section, and then enable SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode. You might need to restart the SQL Server service for the changes to take effect.
  • Proceed with the SSO installation.

Regards,

Nicke
