Using Windows-7 64-bit and VMware server shown error when try to install

Hello,

I am using Windows 7 OS 64-bit and downloaded VMware server but when I try to install it shown the following error message when reach at 90%. The installation did not complete using Microsoft Runtime DLL installer. How can I overcome this problem? Have any idea? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Ruth,

This error means that the installation is trying to write some program files or system files to a drive other than the C: drive or the root drive. You can do is try a registry search that has any reference to D: and see if these has anything relates to VM Ware then if it is change them back to C:, but to be on the safe side make a note of it so if ever it does not have anything to do with installation you can still revert them back. Another solution is try to use Microsoft System Internals Process Monitor so you would know where the D: drive attribute is coming from.
